Enjoy the NYC adventure — Where can one procure a paperback of Yurei Attack here in Japan? Preferably at a real 3D bookstore in Shonan area or any bookstores in Tokyo too. For that matter, is there a non-Amazon option like Bookshop.org in Japan (Amazon.JP is sold out of the books at moment anyhow)? Excited to check it out and see how its jives with the ghost voices I've been hearing in around Kamakura...
The book should be available at the English book specialist Kinokuniya in Shinjuku, and the airport bookstores, though that doesn’t really help you in Shonan. I am surprised to hear it is sold out on Amazon. I think it should be restocked soon!
I hope you have a great time in NY! Youkai are such a varied & interesting aspect of Japanese folklore, if you were to do a similar event in Tokyo, I'd be there for sure.
FWIW, I've had your 'Yokai Attack!' book for a few years - it's a wonderful reference that provides a huge amount of inspiration! Thank you!
When we wrote the book, the word "yokai" was all but unknown abroad, so it is nice to hear it is being read and having such an impact. Thank you!
Good luck, wish you the very best!
Have fun! Good luck to you, Matt and Fred at the event. I enjoyed our session together back in summer 2022. https://jonmetzler.substack.com/p/manga-mania
